SUMMER | HAIRSTYLES

The weather has been hot hot hot lately, and the last thing I've really wanted to deal with is my hair.  Having long hair is wonderful but in the summer, it can be a bit of a curse.  So, I decided to do two summer hairstyle tutorials that any one with medium to long hair can achieve.

Milk Maid Braid

The Milk Maid Braid has been my "go to" hairstyle this summer other than my topknot.  It's super easy to do, and takes less than 5 minutes.

Step 1:

Part your hair right down the middle and separate the two sections of hair.

Step 2:

Begin braiding one section of hair, try to make the braid a little loose

Step 3:

Once you're done braiding one section of hair (all the way to the very bottom) tie off the braid with a hair band, and begin on the other section of hair.

Step 4:

Bring both of the braids to the top of your head and tie them together, now tuck the remaining hair underneath the braids and add hair pins.  Add some hairspray, and you're done!

FISHTAIL BRAID

This hair style again is super easy, and takes less than 5 minutes to do!

Step 1:

Part your hair to one side and smooth out any imperfections with your hands or a brush.

Step 2:

Section your hair into two parts, and begin braiding.  To achieve this look, grab a strand of hair from the outside of the right selection of hair and bring it over to the inner part of the left section of hair (as pictured to the left).  Repeat this by alternating sections of hair.

Step 3:

Once you're done braiding your hair, add a hair tie, but leave about an inch or two of hair at the bottom.

Step 4:

Gently pull apart your braid, keep doing this until your braid appears thicker.  Add some hair spray, and some surf spray (optional) and gently tease (with your fingers) the unbraided portion of your hair.
